Knowledge Changes Everything: Honouring Stephen Lawrence Day

April 22 marks Stephen Lawrence Day – the anniversary of Stephen’s death and a national moment of reflection on the powerful legacy that has followed in his name.

Stephen Lawrence was a young man with aspirations of becoming an architect. Tragically, his dream was never realised. On 22 April 1993, at the age of just 18, Stephen was murdered in an unprovoked racist attack. He didn’t know his killers and his killers didn’t know him.

On this day and throughout the year The Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation (SLDF) honours a life lost by creating opportunities for those yet to come. To mark Stephen Lawrence Day in 2025, they’re focussing on how #KnowledgeChangesEverything.

Access to the right knowledge can transform lives, break cycles of poverty and build better futures for generations to come. From financial literacy to Black History to AI technology – The SLDF are equipping marginalised young people across the UK with the insights and info they need to expand their horizons and cultivate the skills they need to get there. They're doing this with unique resources like their Power of Learning Hub, mentorship schemes, scholarship programmes and more. 

Our partnership with the SLDF was built to empower young people through education, opportunity and community so that they can overcome injustice and confidently step into their potential.
